Cookie policy

This policy explains what cookies and similar storage swaylopixelscabn.courses uses, what each is for, how long it lasts and how you can control it. It should be read with the privacy policy.

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and to send back on later visits. Local storage is a related mechanism that keeps values in the browser without sending them to the server on each request. Both let a site remember something between pages or visits. The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, enforced in the UK by the Information Commissioner's Office, require that non-essential cookies and similar technologies are set only with your consent, and that you are told clearly what they do.

2. How consent works on this site

When you first visit, a banner offers three choices. "Accept All" allows essential, analytics and functional storage. "Reject Non-Essential" allows essential storage only. "Preferences" opens a panel where you can turn analytics and functional storage on or off separately and save your selection. Your choice is stored in your browser and the banner is not shown again on that browser until the value is cleared. Analytics and functional items are set only if the stored choice permits them. To change your choice, clear the site's storage in your browser settings and reload any page; the banner will reappear.

4. Essential storage

Essential items are those without which the site cannot honour your choices or be served safely. They do not require consent, but we list them so that you know they exist. The consent record is the only essential item this site itself sets. It contains no personal information: only a flag for each category showing whether it is allowed.

5. Analytics

Analytics storage, when you allow it, is used to measure how the site is used in aggregate: how many visits a page receives, which pages are viewed together and how visitors arrive. The purpose is editorial, to see which reports are read and where the site is failing to answer questions. Analytics data is not used to identify individual visitors and is not combined with contact form data. If you reject analytics, no measurement cookie is set and no usage data about your visit is sent to an analytics provider.

6. Functional storage

Functional storage, when you allow it, is used only to remember choices you have made on the site so that they persist between visits. It is not used for advertising or tracking across other sites. This site does not set any advertising or social media cookies and does not embed third-party content that would set them.

7. Controlling cookies in your browser

All mainstream browsers let you see, block and delete cookies and local storage. The settings are usually under a heading such as Privacy, Security or Site data. Blocking all storage will prevent the consent record from being saved, so the banner will appear on every page; the rest of the site will continue to work. Guidance for each browser is published by its maker, and the Information Commissioner's Office publishes general advice on managing cookies at ico.org.uk.

8. Changes

If the items used by the site change, this page and the table above will be updated. Where a change would extend the purpose of a non-essential item, consent will be sought again through the banner.
